Newsletter March  2024
In God is my salvation en my glory,
the rock of my strength and my refuge, is in God.   Ps. 62:7

    Dear friends,

Here the promised explanation about that last picture (newsletter December 2023)!

A lot of the work with addicted teenagers is comprised of persistence, falling down and getting back up and yes, a measure of grief when things don’t go so well. This in spite of the fact that about 50% of our young people finish the programme successfully. Many of their background stories are heart wrenching and make you wonder how they’ll end up.

So it was with Veronica. She was with us in 2009, a single mum with a little boy. My joy was immense when I bumped into her in Jesed a little while ago! A beautiful woman with two other children, she had them with a man who once was in Adulam. Together they built a future, making and selling cakes. They live in a good place and care for one another and their children (we currently help them with some learning difficulties).

Seeing and hearing that you think: that investment has yielded 100% and more, what a blessing. This joy gives us all the strength to cope when we have to deal with some less pretty moments.

One Sunday Vanessa showed up in church. Nothing special you might think? Well, actually she hated church for several reasons. But now she came, because she knew we would be there. She is loved and the church too makes her feel welcome. We hold on to the fact that the Lord has started something in this life and pray He will hold her fast.

During Carnaval we had the visit of a pastor from the USA, Sandy and his wife Beth, who spoke in the services of the church weekend. He also brought a gift for Mision Adulam. Part of that went to some sports shoes and tracksuits. None of these boys has a dad and family isn’t able to provide these things. The one who is an orphan spontaneously walked over to Sandy and gave him a big hug. The care we are able to give our children and young people, speaks of the care of a heavenly Father they are getting to know while being with us.

The judge has sent us some seriously difficult young people these last few months: “because you have the professional team that has the capacity to work with them”. That is quite a responsibility, please pray for us, we can only do this when the Lord guides us and gives us wisdom. Just today a judge came to us, to see how one of the boys is doing.

At the end of March, I hope to travel to the Netherlands, representing the ministry, visiting many friends and churches. Then towards the end of June I hope to visit some friends and Stouffville Christian Fellowship.

My adventure in Bolivia started 35 years ago, reason to celebrate the goodness of God. It is my testimony that the faithfulness of the Lord and His care are awesome. And you were part of that, thank you very much!
Bye, with love and warm greetings in Jesus, Fineke and all in Mision Adulam.
